Equipping your parish in its mission to help people encounter Jesus

Alpha is a tool for evangelisation that creates a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about Jesus.

What to Expect

Connect

Whether in person over a meal or virtually with a cup of tea, all sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships.

Content

The Alpha talks are designed to inspire conversation. They explore the big issues of life and faith and meaning.

Connect

One of the most important parts of any Alpha is the discussion time. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say.

Catholic-page

‘I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them. … The Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk; whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realise that he is already there, waiting for us with open arms.’

Pope Francis – Evangelii Gaudium #3

Alpha in the Catholic Context

Alpha is a kerygmatic resource for parish and community renewal. Parishes around the world have seen significant growth in numbers and a new enthusiasm for mission.

Alpha engages lay people in the life and mission of the Church. Often, guests who have experienced Alpha go on to become confident evangelisers themselves.

Alpha equips parishes to go reach those outside the Church. An evangelising community knows that the Lord has taken the initiative by loving us first, therefore we can go and reach others.

Alpha engages and reaches young people through a relaxed, interactive, non-judgemental and fun environment. It’s designed to engage young people in a culturally relevant way.

Alpha is just the beginning. Once guests experience Alpha, they understand who Jesus is and can start to explore their relationship with Him.
